Key Responsibilities of the Role
Your daily activities as a Facility Maintenance Technician will involve a wide range of maintenance and repair work. You’ll handle minor renovations, painting, carpentry, and general repairs throughout the facility.
Routine responsibilities include regular testing and logging of fire safety equipment, such as fire pumps, extinguishers, eyewash stations, and emergency lighting. This ensures the facility is always in compliance and safe for all staff.
You’ll also perform essential washroom repairs and handle fixture replacements, which keeps the infrastructure functioning smoothly. Tasks often include replacing light bulbs, furniture repairs, and moving office furnishings as required.
Some days might require assisting with ballast repairs, while following safety procedures for electrical tasks. Outdoor responsibilities may include simple lawn maintenance and snow removal, keeping facility surroundings safe and presentable.
The position may sometimes require operating a forklift or aerial lift, for which proper certification is needed, and working from heights on occasion.
